About Us

Oregon Yurtworks office located in Eugene, Oregon.
Oregon Yurtworks has been in business of building yurts since 1982. That's over 25 years of experience with the design, application and installation of round homes. We call our founder, Morgan Reiter, the Godfather of yurts, since he brought the concept of a yurt to the west coast. As an architecture student on the east coast in the 70's, Morgan became interested in indigenous homes after touring some of the yurts built by Bill Coperthwaite, the man who pioneerd yurts in the U.S. When Morgan moved to Oregon and built his own yurt, his friends began asking him to build round homes for them as well, and thus Oregon Yurtworks was born.
Now, a quarter century later, Oregon Yurtworks has expanded and evolved to become the established business it is today. We're proud of our business and the work we do; we feel that we have the best people, from our drafters and woodworkers, to our product managers and sales associates. The conception, implementation and achievement of our homes depends on each individual in the team, and because our homes are essentially shipped as a finished product, we have exact standards of quality and excellence. We've adapted our business practice to accomodate the needs of our clients, so that what Genghis Khan started hundreds of years ago Oregon Yurtworks has refined into state-of-the-art craftsmanship; efficient, affordable and exceptional.
