Custom Designs: Two Story Yurt

When building up is better than out!

All our BASIC sizes can be made into two-story designs. A great way to minimize your footprint on your site or to elevate you up to take advantage of a great view, this design is also one of the most economical ways to build. The lower story will have a flat ceiling and round walls and may contain some support posts or beams for the upper floor. The upstairs is that traditional, exciting yurt vaulted ceiling space. These designs can even have the second story “bump” out beyond the lower story to create some interesting soffits around the perimeter outside downstairs and add some additional space upstairs.

Another possibility with all of our two-story structures is to install just a partial floor upstairs, thereby creating a two-story volume from downstairs, allowing that wonderful skylight and ceiling to be engaged from both upstairs and down and creating a lovely balcony from the second floor.
