Green Building - Sustainable Home Design
It is never too soon to start adding “green” elements to your home. The earliest in the design phase the better. We have some standard and optional design elements that we can incorporate into your home to provide you with a green home.
Green Building concepts that we use in our designs:
- The round structure provides a more efficient shape to heat & cool
- The large central skylight offers great natural light which contributes to less power for lighting and a healthier indoor environment
- Foundation options also include post & pier, ICF, or Shallow Frost Protected Foundation
- Can add deck ceilings for decks or patios to provide a comfortable space outside during cooler months which reduces the reliance on the home’s AC system
- Within the designs, we can accommodate a PV or solar water heater system into the home
- Promote Integrated Design - having all the key players in the design and construction of the home working together throughout the project
- Our cedar siding naturally resists decay and insects and is environmentally friendly
- Incorporate passive solar design (e.g. - placing windows and main living area on the south side of the home)
